I'm proud to announce the release of our first public release CGI script, The File Manager. The File Manager is a powerful CGI script that you can use to manage anything from a simple file listing, to an extensive File Directory similar to Download.com.

The File Manager has several key features that help make the task of managing a file directory much, much easier. They include:

• Easy to install script only requires a UNIX web server with Perl 5 or greater installed.
• Allows an unlimited number of different file types that are user defined.
• Allows an unlimited number of different files in the directory.
• All file pages are built using a template that you can define. This allows you to manage the appearance of the file pages, and it will make them look like your site. (See http://www.assortedinternet.com/files/ for an example of the output of this script.)
• Access to the adminstrative functions of this script is password protected, so you can be sure that the integrity of your data is safe.
• Simple automated backup and restore of file data in case of emergency.

That is just the tip of the iceberg, but I hope it helps you get a feel for the power of The File Manager.
